Retail food prices from the Bureau of Home Economics' Department of Public Markets, collected from "middle class neighborhoods throughout the different boroughs of the city" are listed. Food items include: beef, pork chops, veal, lamb, poultry and fowl, Long Island ducks, potatoes, yellow turnips, Long Island carrots, cauliflower, lettuce, cabbage, spinach, Brussels sprouts, cranberries, artichokes, apples, grapefruit, grapes, pineapples and honeydew melons.
