Boosting Payments to Unemployed New Yorkers

The federal stimulus package will allow the state to boost payments for unemployed New Yorkers.
Congressman Charles Rangel says the stimulus will help a million people who are struggling to put food on the table, and keep the state's economy moving.
RANGEL: When people don't have the money to buy, somebody's not selling, and somebody's going out of business.
REPORTER: Weekly unemployment benefits will go up $25.00 through the rest of 2009, and the federal income tax will be suspended on the first $2,400 of unemployment insurance benefits.
New Yorkers will also be eligible for an additional 13 weeks of extended emergency benefits.
