Evaluating the Crash of Flight 3407

New York, NY —

Governor Paterson was in Buffalo and met with relatives of those who died in the crash of Continental Flight 3407.

He says the mood is one of "doom and peril" for the 50 victims' families.

Paterson says last night's accident was very bad...but it could have been even worse.

PATERSON: Well, the plane seemd to come straight down, on one house. obviously if landed more horzontally, could have taken out good part of a neighborhood.

REPORTER: The FBI says 12 families in surrounding homes have been evacuated for their safety.
