A Place to Dispose of Electronics Properly

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

REPORTER: If you find shiny new gadgets under the tree tomorrow morning, don't throw the old ones in the garbage! Electronics like TVs, computers, and cell phones contain toxins that can pollute air and water. The Lower East Side Ecology Center will be holding four electronics recycling events in early January. Executive Director Christine Datz-Romero says they'll evaluate anything you bring in, donate it if it can still be used, and recycle it if it can't.

DATZ-ROMERO: We work with a recycler that does does not export any materials and that makes sure that all the materials collected are being recycled in an environmentally sound manner.

REPORTER: A complete schedule of electronic waste recycling events is on the web at www.lesecologycenter.org.
