Three Officers to be Indicted in Mineo Case

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

Three New York City police officers will reportedly face charges in the alleged assault of a man in a Brooklyn subway station in October. That's according to anonymous sources close to the grand jury quoted by the several news organizations. They say the indictments were voted on Saturday night and will be unsealed Tuesday. Police officials and the Brooklyn DA's office aren't commenting.

Michael Mineo says he suffered rectal and abdominal injuries after an officer jabbed a retractable baton into his buttocks. Officer Richard Kern will reportedly be charged with assault or sexual assault, in what would be the most serious charge. Two other officers face lesser charges. It's not clear whether four other officers said to be involved will also be charged.
