Coming Up With The Cash To Rebuild Fiterman Hall

Building damaged in 9/11 Attacks will cost more to replace the orginally thought.The Bloomberg Administration and the City University of New York are in behind the scenes talks to resolve a dispute over how to pay for the reconstruction of a college building adjacent to the World Trade Center that was badly damaged in the 9/11 attack.
WNYC's Bob Hennelly has this update.
CUNY contends the Bloomberg Administration of shorting them on 10s of millions of dollars in capital construction funds for to the reconstruction of Fiterman Hall.
The former instruction hall is being decontaminated and deconstructed.
The City says it's pledged $8O million to the project, but CUNY and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver say $6O million of that is Federal FEMA money the City is taking credit for.
Replacing the building may be causing the city sticker shock with $34O million price tag, well above the earlier $240 million estimate.
A spokesman for the State's Dormitory Authority, said his agency could not go forward with rebuilding until all the funding partners were on the same page.
The clean-up and deconstruction phase of Fiterman Hall is already underway and fully funded. Officials are hopeful it will be completed by early next year.
