NYFD Finds No Evidence of Gas Leak After Queens Explosion

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

Fire officials say they inspected a home in Queens shortly before it exploded last week, but they found no evidence of a natural gas leak. A funeral was held in Sunnyside Saturday for 69-year-old Kunta Oza, who was killed in Wednesday's blast. Consolidated Edison says the explosion was caused by gas that leaked from a cracked main. The utility is investigating what caused the gas main to crack.
