State Senator Calls For Better Bridge Signage

A state senator insists better signage may have prevented the recent death of a cyclist on the Manhattan Bridge. State Senator Eric Adams says Sam Hindy entered the upper roadway by mistake last week because of confusing signs directing cyclists to the bike lane.

ADAMS: Over here where it appears as though he entered the bridge – there is ambiguity and a lack of clarity about where bikes are supposed to go –I’ve made that mistake until I realized the turn off of the Bowery is not a passageway to the bridge.

REPORTER: Police say Hindy hit a concrete barrier on the upper level of the bridge, and fell to his death on the roadway below. Senator Adams says he's written a letter to the Mayor's office requesting more signs be put up around the city for cyclists.
