Deutsch Bank Contractor to Answer Residents' Questions

New York, NY —

Tonight, the prime contractor responsible for the deconstruction of the former Deutsche Bank building will appear before Lower Manhattan residents to answer questions about the troubled project. WNYC's Bob Hennelly has more.

International contractor Bovis Lend Lease will field questions tonight about how it oversight of the project, which came to a halt after a fire that claimed the lives of two firefighters and left toxic smoke billowing throughout Lower Manhattan. The Community Board wants to know how Bovis followed up on the dozens of Federal and City violations racked up over the last several months at the site.

Meanwhile the Bloomberg Administration has become increasingly defensive about the role it played in the project. Spokesperson for the mayor will not answer questions regarding the administrations past involvement with the project citing an ongoing criminal investigation. Deputy Mayor Dan Doctoroff who has a seat on the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation which owns the 13O Liberty Street building has been the mayors point person on the project.
