Albany Looking for Best Traffic Plan

New York City is getting $354 million from the federal transportation department to ease congestion and Secretary Mary Peters says Mayor Bloomberg's congestion pricing plan is the best bet for doing that.
REPORTER: Peters says the money would pay for mass transit improvements, before congestion fees take effect in 2009.
PETERS: Park and ride lots, other express buses, things like that are all part of what the proposal contemplated. Certainly working with the city and the commission that's been established they will look region-wide at what the impacts may be.
REPORTER: But the money will only come if Albany approves congestion pricing, or another plan that would achieve the same six percent reduction in traffic. A state panel has been established to study congestion pricing, and other traffic reduction methods.
Brooklyn congressman Anthony Weiner believes it will find an alternative to congestion pricing.
