Give Peace a Chance, through Dance

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

Giving peace a chance -- through dance. That's the idea behind a Brooklyn initiative called Dance for Tolerance. It brings together teenagers from Brazil, Columbia and New York for a week of dance workshops, inter-cultural dialog and brainstorming about social change. Martha Bowers heads Dance Theater Etcetera, which helped develop the project.

Bowers: What these young people are doing is they're transforming their lives, learning to be more tolerant, learning a whole new way to think.

Dance for Tolerance will perform at the 14th Annual Red Hood Waterfront Arts festival, which gets underway next Saturday.
