AAA Urges Patience During Holiday traffic Tie Ups

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

AAA is predicting, nation wide, just over 38 million people will begin their holiday weekend exodus, and most of them will be driving.

REPORTER: Robert Sinclair of the New York State Automobile Club says traffic snarls will most likely be unavoidable regardless if you take highways or bi-ways. He suggests drivers remember to pack their patience.

SINCLAIR: The aggressive drivers, those who speed and tailgate, change lanes excessively are going to be out there. The best thing to do is let them go. Don't engage them. If someone is in a hurry and wants to get around, let them go.

REPORTER: However, if you can take a detour through New Jersey, Sinclair says do it on your way out. The Garden State currently boasts the lowest gas prices in the nation, where the average gas price is less than $3 per gallon.
