The latest US Department of Labor stats show that New Jersey and New York continue to lead the nation in the percentage of workers represented by unions.

But as in the rest of the nation, the percentage of workers represented by labor in either states declined in 2006. In the year to year comparison New York labor's clout fell by more than 6%, while in New Jersey it dropped by 2%. Currently, unions represent 2 million workers in New York and just 800,000 in New Jersey.
