Pier 40 Hearing

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

The future of Pier 40 will be hotly debated at a public hearing tonight. The 14-acre pier at West Houston Street is currently home to a parking garage and several sports fields.

The Hudson River Park Trust is considering 2 proposals - an entertainment complex or a more modest recreation and education facility. Critics are concerned that a commercial complex would displace the area's only playing fields. The hearing will be held at PS 41 at 7 pm.
