Alice Tully Hall Closes, Temporarily

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

It's curtains for Alice Tully Hall, at least for the next year and a half. The hall is the first major project in the $900 million architectural renewal of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

A closing event last night starred Wynton Marsalis and Laurie Anderson. Former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw hosted the evening and the event is to be broadcast nationally on PBS tomorrow. The Lincoln Center complex, on Manhattan's West Side, was built mostly in the 1960s. It draws about 5 million visitors a year.
