Former Director of Iraqi Museum Seeks to Restore Looted Artifacts

Tuesday, March 20th marks the 4th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq and the start of the Iraq war. Of the many causalities of the conflict, one that is still recovering is the Iraqi National Museum. The museum's former director is the archaeologist Donny George Youkhanna. He’s been seeking to retrieve and restore the contents of the museum that were damaged and stolen during looting immediately following the invasion. He now lives in New York, where he’s joined the faculty of the Anthropology department at SUNY Stony Brook and he joins us by phone now.
