Remains and Relics Rest Together

The dig at the World Trade Center site for the remains of September 11th victims has moved across the street to the lot of a destroyed church where important relics may also be buried.
Last week, 2 bones were recovered from the area where the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church stood. Debris from both towers collapsed onto the church and its parking lot on 9/11. In the months after the attacks, the St. Nicholas congregants had some of their relics returned to them, including a small bell and cross, several Bibles and even wax candles.
But the church's most precious relics remain missing - a small enamel box containing bone fragments of 3 saints. The box was in a 600 pound safe, which also contained church documents. The bones are believed to be those of Saint Nicholas, Saint Sava and Saint Katherine.
