Spitzer Meets With Family Members Devastated by Bronx Fire

Governor Eliot Spitzer met this morning with relatives of the 10 people who died in Wednesday's house fire in the Bronx.
After meeting with family members and speaking to worshippers at the Islamic Cultural Center in the Bronx, Spitzer pledged the state would do what it could to assist the affected relatives with housing and employment. The death toll rose to 10 Friday night with the death of 7-year-old Asimi Soumare. She died due to complications from smoke inhalation. The blaze has killed nine children and one adult.
A Jacobi Medical Center spokeswoman says the condition of a 6-year-old girl, Kadiatou Magassa, has been upgraded from critical to stable. But the child remains in the intensive care unit.
