New York City Recycles Xmas Trees

'Tis the season -- to recycle. New York City has set dates to collect and recycle Christmas trees. They'll be picked up from curbs between January 5th and January 16th. Tinsel, lights, ornaments and tree stands need to come off, and the trees cannot be covered in plastic bags.

Last year, the city collected 156,000 Christmas trees. They get chipped up and mixed with leaves to make compost for use in parks, ballfields and community gardens around the city.
