Homicides Up Slightly in Harlem

Police say homicide is up in Harlem, but not as much as some earlier reports. There were 20 murders through December 17, compared to 17 for the same period last year.

Harlem isn't the only neighborhood where homicide is up. Police statistics also show that homicide rose in Manhattan above 59th Street.

Overall, the statistics show that there was an increase in murders in New York City this year. Other hot spots in the city: Brooklyn's Fort Greene and Crown Heights, and the Morrisania section of the Bronx.
