Meetings with top Dems Fuels Clinton Bid Speculation

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton met with Governor-elect Eliot Spitzer in his Upper East Side Manhattan apartment yesterday.

The meeting was part of Clinton's effort to reach out to fellow top New York Democrats and ask them for their support if she decides to run for president in 2008. As she left the two-hour meeting with Spitzer, Clinton said only that the two had had a wide-ranging meeting on issues that affect the city, the state and the country.

The former first lady is coming off an easy re-election victory to the Senate. National polls show her as the front-runner for the 2008 Democratic nomination. Fellow New York Senator Charles Schumer says Clinton has asked to meet with him in the coming week.
