WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

New York City has broken ground on a new shopping mall at the Bronx Terminal Market.

The Gateway Center will have one million square feet of retail space, and is expected to provide 2100 new jobs, when it opens in 2009. The Gateway Center is expected to have a mix of national and local retailers and restaurants, creating a destination for Bronx residents who currently travel outside the borough to shop.
