Heat Wave Death Toll Reaches 24

Two more people were killed by last week's heat wave than previously thought.

Yesterday, the city's Medical Examiner attributed the deaths of two Queens men to overheating. One man was age 45, the other 72, and both died on Friday. So far, 24 people are believed to have died as a direct result of the heat wave.

But that number only tells part of the story and doesn't reflect deaths caused by other conditions - such as heart disease or diabetes - where heat played a role.
