Sen. Clinton Calls for Rumsfeld to Resign

Another soldier from New York has been killed in Iraq. The Defense Department says 37-year old Specialist Hai Ming Hsia died Tuesday during combat operations in Ar Ramadi.

At least 2584 members of the US military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.

During a hearing on Capitol Hill yesterday, Donald Rumsfeld defended the Bush administration's handling of the war. Still, two Pentagon commanders said escalating violence in Baghdad could lead Iraq to an outright civil war.

New York Senator Hillary Clinton is calling for Rumsfeld to resign.

CLINTON: Because of the administration's strategic blunders and frankly the record of incompetence in executing, you are presiding over a failed policy.

Republican Senator John McCain also criticized the war effort, calling it a game of whack-a-mole.

The top U.S. Commander in the Middle East said he's optimistic that together the military, Iraqis and Iraq's government will prevent the country from sliding into civil war.
