Theater Pulls 9/11 Film Trailer After Complaints

WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

At least one movie theater in the city has pulled the trailer for "United 93," which is about the hijacked United Airlines flight that crashed in a Pennsylvania field on September 11.

The theater manager for the AMC Loews Lincoln Square 12 theater on West 66th Street said the decision came after viewers complained they found it too upsetting.

Universal Studios in Los Angeles, meanwhile, says it would go ahead with plans to show the trailer for the movie. Universal's president of marketing says the film is an honest and real look at the events of Flight 93.

"United 93" is scheduled to make its world premiere on April 25th, the opening night of the Tribeca Film Festival. It will open in wider release on April 28th.
