WNYC News | Jul 12, 2010

The attorneys representing the detainees held at Guantanamo Bay are some of the men's only connection to the outside world. Though the detainees can write to their families and receive mail back, it all has to be declassified on the way in and out. Sometimes letters arrive late or redacted.

A group of lawyers are working with the detainees to challenge their detention in federal court - but sometimes the attorneys find themselves responsible for much more than their clients’ legal cases.

This morning, the last of WNYC's Marianne McCune's reports: Sarah Havens and Doug Cox of the law firm Allen and Overy are asked to fill in the gaps that friends and family cannot.
