Next Tuesday, Newark voters will go to the polls to vote in a non-partisan election for mayor. The highly contested race has grabbed national media attention, with a charismatic young challenger and plenty of mud slinging in the mix.Incumbent Mayor Sharpe James and challenger City Council Member Corey Booker have broken local campaign spending records...and political passions are running high in a city that hasn't had a close mayoral race in 16 years.
