The NYPR Archive Collections | Jan 1, 2000

Reporter Russ Johns describes the happenings at the New York World's Fair on October 19, 1939. This includes the story of a Boy Scout, Donn Fendler, who had been separated from his troop and was stranded in the woods in Maine for a week. He was honored at the World's Fair and was interviewed on the air. A book was written about his story, "Donn Fendler : Lost on a Mountain in Maine."
