Abel Selaocoe With Manchester Collective at Merkin Hall
Oct. 7. 8PM. $25-45.

The cellist Abel Selaocoe was born in South Africa, but eventually made his way to England, where he has established himself as a composer and vocalist as well. His debut album is called Where Is Home, and it includes music that most cellists would be at home with, like works by J.S. Bach, but also music that reflects Selaocoe’s own heritage. Some songs are rooted in the music of the townships of South Africa, and others feature the percussion instruments and languages from across the southern regions of Africa. The cellist and singer Abel Selaocoe plays with Manchester Collective at Kaufman Music Center's Merkin Hall on Friday, Oct. 7.
