Album of the Week: Ella and Basie!

New Standards | Feb 23, 2015

By the time of its 1963 release, Ella and Basie! was the second collaboration between the legendary Count Basie and Ella Fitzgerald. The incredible album was made even more unfortgettable by the arrangements of the then 30 year-old, Quincy Jones.

Ella and Basie! features songs popularized by legends: Louis Armstrong, Art Tatum, Fats Waller, Billie Holiday and many more. This week, tune into The Jonathan Channel to catch a different cut from the album, every hour on the hour.
