Aldous Harding at Webster Hall
June 9. 8PM. $25+ up.

New Zealand singer Aldous Harding started as a gothic folk singer, spinning tales from the fantasy world of writer Mervyn Peake, and then moved on to more pop material – but off-kilter pop, backed up by videos that could be charmingly strange or just plain unsettling. The song, “The Barrel,” might be her most popular one so far, but with its repeated mentions of peaches, and showing a ferret to the egg, and of course the titular barrel, it’s hard to know what on earth she’s actually singing about. Her latest album is called Warm Chris, and it bring Aldous Harding to Webster Hall on June 9.
