Alessandra Belloni at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine
Tickets: $25. Concert at 7:30 pm.

For more than three decades, Italian-born singer, drummer and composer Alessandra Belloni has been researching and performing the ancient rituals of the Black Madonna, a thinly-disguised Christian version of an older, female deity. Those rituals usually involve healing dances and songs, like the famous Italian tarantella. Now Belloni is publishing a book, called Healing Journeys With The Black Madonna, and is launching the book with a concert full of those old and mysterious rhythms.

Alessandra Belloni and her troupe perform these old Mediterranean trance rhythms Tuesday night, March 19, at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
