Supporting NYC Restaurants, 'The Secret Life of Groceries,' Julie Taymor, The First Presidential Debate

All Of It with Alison Stewart | Sep 30, 2020

Chris Crowley, a writer for Grub Street, joins us to discuss his reporting on the effect of COVID-19 on the restaurant industry, and what it might look like as the weather gets colder and outdoor dining isn't an option. Governor Cuomo authorized indoor dining to resume today at 25% capacity, so we'll also take calls from NYC diners about how they feel eating indoors.

Benjamin Lorr talks about the long journey that your food makes to the grocery shelf where you buy it. His research for the book, The Secret Life of Groceries: The Dark Miracle of the American Supermarket, took him behind the seafood counter at a Whole Foods, on the road with long haul truckers, and along the path taken by many migrant agricultural workers.

Julie Taymor joins us to discuss directing, co-writing and producing “The Glorias.” Based on Gloria Steinem’s memoir, My Life on the Road, the film stars Alicia Vikander and Julianne Moore at different stages in Steinem’s life.

David Gura, MSNBC anchor and correspondent, joins us to break down the first debate of the 2020 Presidential Election.
