Cinematters Film Festival, Media and the Insurrection, Jimmy Carter Biography, Get Lit Preview

Isaac Zablocki, director of The Carole Zabar Center for Film at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, joins us to discuss the Cinematters: NY Social Justice Film Festival. The festival promotes social action and positive change through films, special events, and conversations that celebrate the legacy of Dr. King and runs from January 14 through January 18.

NPR’s David Folkenflik joins us to discuss the media’s coverage of the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and what it says about the shifting view of the President and the deepening White House crisis.

Today, we launch the third installment of our Full Bio series. All this week, we’ll be talking to journalist and author Jonathan Alter about his biography, His Very Best: Jimmy Carter, A Life. Alter interviewed scores of people for the book, including the former president and first lady. We start with a look at Pres. Carter’s childhood, how his years on the family’s Georgia farm shaped his outlook, and his long marriage to Rosalyn.
