[REBROADCAST FROM MARCH 31, 2021] The artist Julie Mehretu joins us to discuss her mid-career survey show at The Whitney Museum of American Art, which opened on March 25 and is titled simply, "Julie Mehretu." The exhibit spans over two decades and features almost 70 works on both canvas and paper. The selected pieces reveal Mehretu's wide range of source material and her commitment to finding new avenues of expression within abstract painting. The exhibit runs through August 8.
A new book explores the joys and challenges of romance in the later years of one’s life. Journalist Francine Russo joins us to discuss her book, Love After 50: How to Find It, Enjoy It, and Keep It, and take calls from listeners about their experience dating after 50.
Director Todd Stephens joins us to discuss his new film, "Swan Song," along with actor Udo Kier. Kier stars as former hairdresser Pat Pitsenbarger, who escapes his small-town Ohio nursing home after learning that his former client's dying wish was for Pat to style her final hairdo. "Swan Song" will be released in select theaters nationwide August 6 and via VOD August 13.
