Ocean to Ocean is Tori Amos’s first full-length album since publishing her memoir Resistance in 2020. Written during the pandemic, the album has been described by Amos as “a record about your losses, and how you cope with them.” Amos joins us for a Listening Party.
WNYC planning editor Kate Hinds joins us for her ongoing series, “Kate Has a Plan,” to discuss the stories the newsroom is following this week.
DOC NYC is the largest documentary film festival in the country. Artistic director Thom Powers and senior programmer Karen McMullen help us preview the festival and what films to look out for. DOC NYC 2021 opens on November 10 and runs until November 18.
Erika Kubick, Chicago-based creator of the popular blog, Cheese Sex Death, and former cheese monger, joins us to talk about her new book, dedicated to the world of cheese, and the perfect place to begin for those hoping to get into artisan cheese. Cheese, Sex, Death: A Bible for the Cheese Obsessed, addresses everything from cheese-related recipes, to how to put together the perfect cheeseboard, and of course is supplemented by some cheese photography to make it all the more enticing.
Twenty years ago, the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was released in theaters, setting the stage for over a decade of films and launching the careers of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. As we look back on the film twenty years later, we are joined by the director of both “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” and the second film in the series, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” Chris Columbus. He will join us to talk about setting the tone for the series, working with the young stars, and he’ll take calls from fans of the films who remember when the first movie was released.
