Drummer and composer Allison Miller leads several important bands, rooted in jazz but drawing freely on rock, funk, and chamber music. Her new multimedia project, Rivers In Our Veins, is a series of pieces inspired by five major rivers in the Eastern US. It features her sterling ensemble, with additional percussion from live tap dancers, and live visual projections. Allison Miller goes deep with research about rivers and social movement — migratory movement — along rivers, as well as what she learned from the River Keepers.
