Alternative Guitar Summit Honors Ralph Towner at Drom

The guitarist Ralph Towner has been making music that defies category for half a century. He’s best known for his work with sax player Paul Winter, writing Winter’s signature tune “Icarus” in the early 1970's – a song that went to the moon with the astronauts of Apollo XV. And for his work with the long-running chamber-jazz-world music band Oregon. Towner has also had musical collaboration with Gary Burton, John Abercrombie, and Keith Jarrett. Monday night, March 25, duos and trios of guitarists like Nels Cline, Gyan Riley, Leni Stern, and Ben Monder perform as part of the Alternative Guitar Summit at Drom, honoring Ralph Towner.
