Ana Tijoux was born in France to Chilean parents who were living there in exile after the 1973 coup. When Chile returned to civilian rule in 1993 she moved there, and soon became well known as a rapper. But she is also a fine singer, and has had a varied and successful career in the worlds of hip hop and Latin pop. Sometimes, those two worlds come together, and sometimes, she likes to return to her roots in rap. Ana Tijoux plays at 4 pm Saturday afternoon, July 20, with Combo Chimbita at Corporal Thompson Park on Staten Island.
