Musical worlds collide when Andy Statman takes the stage. He’s a virtuoso mandolinist who’s been at the heart of New York’s surprisingly strong bluegrass scene for since the 1970s. But he’s also a klezmer clarinetist whose playing incorporates the sounds of jazz and world music. Playing klezmer music brought put Statman in touch with his Jewish roots, and led him to explore the wordless prayer melodies of the Hassidic Jews. Andy Statman plays Thursday, Aug. 15, at Joe’s Pub.
