A Chanukah Classical Music Extravaganza at Temple Emanu-El Dec.
14, 6:30PM. Free, with registration
Anthony Roth Costanzo is a countertenor – a very high male voice often used in both early and modern classical music. Costanzo has sung the 300 year old music of Handel, and has performed quite a lot of Philip Glass’s much more recent music. On Wednesday, Dec. 14, he’s producing a secular Chanukah program with music by both composers, along with soprano Angel Blue, the Brooklyn orchestra known as The Knights, and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. "Liquid Days" by Philip Glass, work by Carlos Simon written especially for Costanzo and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, and a 20th-century reimagining of traditional folk music are on the program, Dec. 14, at Temple Emanu-El.Â
