Apple Hill Chamber Players and the Absolute Concerto

Robert Sherman hosts a program of recorded music, conversation, and live performances in the WQXR Concert Theater.

In the first part of the program, Mr. Sherman welcomes [members of the Apple Hill Chamber Players, conductor Lawrence Leighton Smith, and composer George Rochberg. Director Eric Stumacher and his colleagues in the Apple Hill Chamber Players discuss the work of their organization, and they perform selections from the Piano Quartet in E♭ major, Op. 47 by Robert Schumann live in the WQXR Concert Theater.]

In the second part of the program, Mr. Sherman welcomes participants in the Absolute Concerto, a concert of new American music being held at Lincoln Center: producer Ettore Stratta, conductor Lawrence Leighton Smith, and composer Augusta Read Thomas. Featured recordings in the segment include Flourishes and Gallop by Morton Gould, the Cello Concerto “Vigil” by Augusta Thomas, and House Warming by Morton Gould.
