Inadequate funding for legal organizations that represent children in New York State Family Courts has left attorneys overburdened, exacerbating conditions recently characterized as "dehumanizing". Dawne Mitchell, chief attorney of the Juvenile Rights Practice at the Legal Aid Society of New York City, explains what this means for children and families in Family Court and what's needed to improve these conditions.
