Adam McKay Wants to Make Informative Pop Culture

"What would happen if our pop culture actually gave us real information?"
That's what filmmaker Adam McKay says inspired his latest film "The Big Short," based on Michael Lewis' book about the 2008 financial crisis.
McKay says the movie is based on real people, real facts, and real events. He "just wanted to aggressively lean forward" into the truth of the story to encourage people to understand the crisis.
"If the guy who directed 'Step Brothers' can get this, I think audiences can get this," said McKay with a laugh, referring to himself.
McKay is also a former SNL head writer, co-writer of the films "Anchorman," "Talladega Nights," and "The Other Guys" with Will Ferrell, and co-creator of the Funny or Die website.
