The Baseball Playoffs Are Upon Us, and Yankees Fans Are Euphorious Over Gregorious

When Didi Gregorious first stepped up to bat for the New York Yankees in 2015, he didn't make the best impression. As longtime shortstop Derek Jeter's replacement, he had to fill big shoes—but his earliest games for the Bronx Bombers were riddled with strikes, errors and Bronx cheers from the fans.

But fast-forward to the 2017 playoffs. It's a whole different story.

After Gregorious nailed a three-run homer against the Minnesota Twins this week, Yankees commentator John Sterling declared that Gregorious "makes Yankees fans euphorious!" That doesn't mean they have a smooth ride to the World Series. WNYC's Jim O'Grady breaks down the Yankees' shot at the pennant, along with other teams to keep an eye on in post-season play.
