Becoming Billy Porter, with Michael Mwenso

The star of Kinky Boots and the hit FX show Pose recently made a big splash with his unique red carpet style. At this year's Academy Awards, Billy Porter wore a custom Christian Siriano, an outfit that turned heads and flash bulbs. An "overnight" success, Billy's s career is soaring now, after two decades of working hard to become exactly who he really is.

Last summer, Billy Porter came to the WNYC studios to talk about his journey from Richard Rodgers to red carpet. Billy told singer and bandleader Michael Mwenso how songs helped him find his way.
