For years, the soft drink industry has made billions of dollars by selling flavored sugar water and shown no regard for the known consequences excessive soda consumption has on public health, but that is starting to change.

In her new book Soda Politics: Taking on Big Soda (and Winning) (Oxford University Press, 2015), Marion Nestle, professor of nutrition, food studies, and public health at New York University, tells how these companies got to where they are, how recent advocates are successfully fighting them, and what we can do to make our world a healthier place.
