Biggie Smalls, Wu-Tang Clan and Woody Guthrie to Have NYC Streets Renamed in Their Honor
At 2018's final New York City Council meeting, members voted to co-name streets in honor of the Notorious B.I.G., the Wu-Tang Clan, and folk musician Woody Guthrie.
Once approved by the mayor, the block of St. James Place in Brooklyn where Biggie grew up will be dubbed Christopher Wallace Way.
The Wu-Tang district will be located at the southeast corner of Vanderbilt Avenue and Targee Street in Fox Hills, Staten Island, where the group filmed the music video for "Can It Be All So Simple."
And Woody Guthrie Way will be located on Mermaid Avenue in Coney Island, where Guthrie lived with his wife in the 1940s.
Altogether, the Council approved 164 co-namings this year—a small tribute to New Yorkers from all walks who contributed to the city's cultural, economic and political life.
