Thomas Barrack, Billionaire Investor And Trump Ally, Pleads Not Guilty To Foreign Lobbying Charges

WNYC News | Jul 26, 2021

Thomas Barrack, a close ally to former President Donald Trump, pleaded not guilty to seven charges, including secretly lobbying the Trump administration on behalf of the United Arab Emirates from 2016 to 2018 without registering as a lobbyist.

The indictment also claims that the 74-year-old billionaire investor lied to investigators about his activities.

A federal judge released Barrack last week after he posted a $250 million bond. He is now subject to travel restrictions, but is allowed to live in his house in Colorado until his next hearing in September.
