A Bird's Eye Perspective of the Planet, and Its Problems

The Leonard Lopate Show | Apr 10, 2015

The time that astronaut Ron Garan spent living on the International Space Station, witnessing earth from afar, working work side by side with people from all different nationalities, gave him a new perspective on the vexing problems we face today. In The Orbital Perspective: Lessons in Seeing the Big Picture from a Journey of 71 Million Miles, he argues that the collaborative, technologically complex work of running the International Space Station, manned by people from fifteen nationalities, can provide lessons on the kind of cooperation and innovation required to create a better world. Ron Garan is also featured in the film "Planetary" which premiers on April 22, Earth Day.
